Care tips
At Purse Curse, we understand that your new vintage or pre-loved designer bag is precious to you. To help ensure that your bag looks beautiful for years to come, we’d like to share some care tips. By following these simple tips, you can keep your bag in the best possible condition.
-
Leather Care: use a specialized leather conditioner to keep the leather soft and hydrated. Apply the conditioner regularly with a soft microfiber cloth and allow it to absorb well. Avoid using harsh cleaning products that may damage the leather. At Purse Curse, we personally recommend Cadillac Boot and Shoe Leather Lotion or Saphir Medaille d’Or Renovateur. Of course, this is a personal choice; there are many other excellent brands available.
-
Avoid direct sunlight: do not place your bag in direct sunlight, as this can cause the leather to fade and dry out. Store your bag in a cool, dry place to preserve the natural beauty of the leather.
-
Use the dustbag: store your bag in the provided dustbag when not in use. This protects the bag from dust and light damage.
-
Let your bag breathe: it’s a good idea to occasionally air out your bag to prevent moisture and odors. Regularly take your bag out of the dustbag, as leather needs to breathe. For example, you can leave your bag outside for a while (but not in direct sunlight) or rest it in a well-ventilated area.
-
Avoid overloading: use your bag with care and avoid overloading it. Excess weight can damage the shape and structure of the bag. Distribute the contents evenly and avoid sharp objects that could harm the leather. We recommend using a bag shaper or bag organizer. There are several brands that offer these products, and my personal favorite is Samorga.
-
Avoid overuse: it’s tempting to wear your favorite bag every day, but excessive use can shorten its lifespan. Try to rotate your bags regularly, allowing them to rest and maintain their shape. You can even use a bag pillow when storing your bag to help preserve its structure. By rotating your bags, they have the opportunity to recover and stay in top condition for longer. If you’ve been enchanted by Purse Curse, it should be easy to switch between bags!
-
Regular maintenance: check your bag regularly for signs of wear, loose stitching, or damage. Have minor issues repaired as soon as possible to prevent further damage. Always take your bag to a trusted Bagspa for repairs.
Please note: while we have carefully put together these care tips, we want to emphasize that we are not responsible for any damage to your bag. These tips are intended as general guidelines to extend the lifespan of your bag. If you have any doubts about the care of your bag, we always recommend seeking professional advice from the designer of the item or from a reputable Bagspa.
