This is the large, classic 2.55 bag, also known as the Reissue 227. In terms of size, this model is comparable to the Classic Flap Jumbo. The 2.55 is a legendary bag, designed by Gabrielle Chanel and released in February 1955, which is where the name ‘2.55’ comes from. At the time, this bag was revolutionary because it was the first shoulder bag for women. Before this, women always carried their bags by hand, but Gabrielle Chanel found this impractical. She wanted a bag that was easy to carry without having to hold it constantly.
In 2005, the bag was reissued by Karl Lagerfeld under the name ‘Reissue’. It was a tribute to the original design.
