Chanel reissue 226 – pre-owned
This is the medium classic 2.55 bag, also known as the Reissue 226. In terms of size, this model is comparable to the medium Classic Flap bag. The 2.55 is a legendary handbag designed by Gabrielle Chanel and released in February 1955, which is where its name ‘2.55’ comes from. At the time, this bag was revolutionary as it was the very first shoulder bag for women. Before then, women typically carried their handbags in their hands, which Gabrielle Chanel found impractical. She wanted to create a bag that could be worn effortlessly without having to be held all the time.
In 2005, the bag was reissued by Karl Lagerfeld under the name ‘Reissue’. It was a tribute to the original design.
This bag is in very good condition. As it is a pre-owned item, some signs of wear are visible, but they are minimal. There are light signs of use and slight discoloration on the corners. The bag is crafted from red leather, featuring the vintage finish that is characteristic of the 2.55 model. The interior is also made of leather and includes the iconic lipstick pocket. The inside is clean, although there is a light storage odor present.
