This exceptional Chanel vintage matelasse single flap is a rare and early design from the period when Karl Lagerfeld joined Chanel as creative director in 1983. The iconic CC turnlock closure, which has since become an unmistakable symbol of the fashion house, was introduced during these years and makes this model especially desirable for collectors and lovers of authentic vintage Chanel handbags. This bag dates to approximately 1983–1985, a period before Chanel began incorporating serial numbers into their bags.
The bag is crafted from black lambskin leather featuring the classic matelassé pattern. The leather feels supple and soft and, considering its age, remains in beautiful vintage condition. Various signs of wear are visible, including wear and slight discoloration on the corners and edges, which is typical for an authentic vintage Chanel single flap and only enhances the character of the design. The 24k gold-plated hardware shows light wear but still retains its luxurious appearance. The interior is finished with a burgundy lining that is clean and well kept, although the bag carries a light storage scent.
With a chain measuring approximately 81 cm, this Chanel vintage matelasse single flap can be worn elegantly as a shoulder bag.
